Canada’s second largest clay brick operator anticipates an early January closing on the assets of concrete building and hardscape unit producer, Atlas Block, including a Hillsdale, Ontario, flagship operation. The $12 million–$14 million transaction is through KPMG Inc., a court-appointed receiver of Atlas Block, and will allow Brampton Block to add concrete masonry capacity and take advantage of cost-saving synergies by consolidating production of similar items.

Enhanced technology at the Hillsdale facility will support initiatives to expand the Brampton Brick product portfolio and service to concrete landscape and masonry products customers. The company produces paving stones, segmental retaining wall units and other Oaks-branded concrete masonry units at plants in its home base, plus Markham and Milton, Ontario, and Wixom, Mich. It serves customers in Ontario and Quebec, plus Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana. Brampton Brick has clay product plants at headquarters and Terre Haute, Ind.
