ACI names former PCA, NRMCA engineer Ellis president

Anne Ellis, FACI, was elected ACI 2013-14 president during the group’s spring meeting in Minneapolis. Prior to joining AECOM in Springfield, Va., as vice president, Government Initiatives, she represented the concrete and cement industries as National Ready Mixed Concrete Association applied engineering manager and Portland Cement Association regional structural engineer. During 30-plus years of architectural, engineering and construction experience, she has served as design engineer or manager with firms including Martin, Cagley & Middlebrook and Parsons Brinckerhoff Quade & Douglas.

The ACI spring meeting also saw the election of Sharon Wood, chair of the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, as 2013-14 vice president, plus four current Institute Fellows to the ACI Board of Direction, each for three-year terms: Dean Browning, project director of the Charles Pankow Foundation, Vancouver, Wash.; Cary Kopczynski, head of a Bellevue, Wash., structural engineering firm bearing his name; Kevin MacDonald, president of Beton Consulting Engineers LLC in Mendota Heights, Minn.; and, David Suchorski, senior technical services manager/sales manager for Ash Grove Cement Co., Des Moines, Iowa.
