Solomon Colors inks distribution deal for Lythic slab agents

Solomon Colors has added a line of slab polishing and finishing agents to its namesake and Legacy brands for coloring ready mixed and manufactured concrete. Following a distribution deal announced at the World of Concrete, the company will begin stocking Lythic products at 14 warehouses across the U.S. and Canada, which in turn supply more than 1,000 wholesale or retail outlets. Each of Solomon’s 24-member sales team will represent the flagship and Lythic lines, along with the slab restoration Brickform brand. Certain Lythic products will replace Solomon alternatives.

Included in the distribution plan will be a spray product announced in Las Vegas, Day1 Troweling Aid, that is formulated to extend concrete finishing time and strengthen slabs. Testing and research has seen the manufacturer enlist staff and students of the charter Concrete Industry Management program at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, to measure the effect of Day1 on a series of power trowel-finished slabs. They concluded that the colloidal silica agent can reduce surface drying and extend finishing time 15–45 minutes without weakening the slab or adding excessive water to the mix.
