Sweeping federal court action clouds post-2011 NLRB decisions

A federal appellate court ruling in favor of an employer/respondent’s petition for review of a National Labor Relations Board order could nullify decisions Board Members have issued since January 2012. Respondent Noel Canning, a Yakima, Wash., Pepsi product bottler, challenged a) the existence of a quorum the Board required on an unfair labor practice complaint in which Teamsters Local 760 prevailed; and, b) the validity of the Board’s order based on the presence of three Members President Obama appointed during an Administration-claimed Senate recess.

GCC Mid-Continent veteran takes top NRMCA Driver honor

Rayfield Harris, based at GCC Mid-Continent Concrete’s downtown Tulsa, Okla., plant, is the Ready Mixed Concrete Driver of the Year for 2013, selected from a pool of applicants representing NRMCA producers across the country. Competition judges recognized him for career achievements, safety record, professionalism, driving competency and customer service skills. Harris has worked for GCC Mid-Continent for more than nine years and is assigned to one of the company’s pink mixer trucks, publicizing the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.
