Germany’s MBK, the world’s leading manufacturer of reinforcement cage machinery, has extended a prior sales and marketing agreement with global concrete pipe machinery leader HawkeyePedershaab. It calls for MBK to purchase the rights to the HawkeyePedershaab Cageflex product line and associated technologies, and HawkeyePedershaab to represent MBK cage machinery exclusively as North American sales agent.

The Cageflex agreement will see the companies operate a Burlington, Iowa-based joint venture, MBK USA, as a domestic service and parts subsidiary of the German partner. From 1990–2008, HawkeyePedershaab served as the U.S. market sales agent for MBK, delivering more than 100 of the company’s machines domestically and servicing the brand throughout North America.

“With the acquisition of Cageflex and its underlying technologies, we will be able to strengthen what is already a very robust line of cage machinery,” says MBK Commercial Director Giel Janssen, citing his company’s enthusiasm for returning to cooperation with HawkeyePedershaab.

“We enjoyed a long and successful history with MBK and look forward to working together again,” adds HawkeyePedershaab Sales Vice President Brad Schmidgall, noting that the new partnership offers “the prospect of providing our markets even stronger products and better service than we, collectively, are able to offer today.”

Initially, customer service calls and parts requests for the Cageflex machinery globally will be handled through the U.S. and Danish operations of HawkeyePedershaab, with support transitioning to the MBK USA location at a date to be determined.
