The American Concrete Institute-affiliated SDC has outlined key topics and themed sessions for its March 10–11 meeting at the Queen’s Landing Inn and Conference Center, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario:
• Paving the Way for a More Sustainable Concrete Infrastructure—A roadmap developed as an outcome of the “International Summit on Cement Hydration Kinetics and Modeling.”
• Nuclear standards—Examines nuclear inspector program revitalization and harmonization of ACI and American Society of Mechanical Engineering standards.
• Sustainability—Update on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-proposed rule affecting fly ash classification and handling, plus commercialization of newly developed technologies such as “green cements.”
• Cracking—Pegged an “Industry Critical Technology,” it will be examined from various facets including prevention, mitigation, and repair via technologies such as concrete mix components, reinforcing, fibers, and techniques.
