The new JHD1620 and JHD3620 AM/FM/Weatherband heavy-duty stereos are designed to survive demanding industrial conditions as they supply entertainment options. Next generation to current JHD1510 and JHD3510 models, the manufacturer notes, the new stereos feature the brand’s robust electrical and mechanical design, AM/FM tuner with RBDS (JHD3620 is CD model), and NOAA Weatherband with Weather Alert capability. The new, durable JHD1620 and JHD3620 also incorporate conformal coated circuit boards to protect the system against temperature fluctuations, condensation, and humidity commonly encountered in heavy-duty applications.
Additionally, the JHD1620 and JHD3620 are Sirius Gen 3.0 satellite radio ready. Accordingly, the stereos can transmit and control Sirius Radio (when a subscription is obtained) without having to use a separate Sirius headunit. Moreover, the iPod-ready stereos provide full control when an iPod is plugged into either front or rear auxiliary inputs. The stereos also are public announcement ready and, thus, have the capability (with microphones) to serve as a PA system.
New JHD1620 and JHD3620 features include a full-dot matrix, high-visibility display for clear viewing and S.A.M.E technology, which allows the weather alert to focus on a more specific region. Both models have nonvolatile memory that saves station presets and audio settings, even when a vehicle’s battery is disconnected. Differentiating the two stereos are the JHD3620’s CD player and front-panel USB connection for those who prefer to listen to music through a device such as a jump drive. ASA Electronics
