The 10,008-lb. S850 has a rated operating capacity of 3,875 lb., surpassing the current largest skid loader by 17 percent. And, the loader’s 144-in. lift height Û the highest in the industry, the company notes Û especially suits loading over mortar mixers, as well as stacking brick, blocks or other palletized material.

Powered by a 92-hp Tier III engine, the two-speed S850 reaches 7.1 mph in its low range and 12.3 mph in high. Its tipping load is 7,750 lb.

Like other M-Series loader models, the S850 is equipped with a hydraulic system engineered for higher standard flow and pressure to provide more power to attachments, product developers affirm. Standard auxiliary hydraulic flow on the S850 is 23 gal./min. at 3,500 lb./sq. in., and an optional high-flow feature reaches 37 gal./min.

Hydraulic quick couplers are mounted directly to the lift arm’s front plate to ensure a solid mounting, and coupler hoses run through the loader arms for better protection. A guard bar extends in front of the coupler for added security.

Since keeping the loader cool while operating long hours is critical to prolonged service life, the S850 cooling system has been redesigned for increased efficiency and higher performance, the manufacturer asserts. Moreover, the new design facilitates cleaning, since the oil cooler swings up, providing access to the area between the oil cooler and the radiator.

Among enhancements to the optional Deluxe Instrumentation Panel are monitors of key loader functions and a keyless start to help prevent theft. A new 5-in., full-color LCD screen improves readability and interaction; and, virtual sweep gauges allow the operator to quickly assess the machine’s performance. Bobcat www.bobcat.com
