Veneer Stone Comes Of Age

To recognize distinctive new and retrofit applications of members’ manufactured stone products, Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association honored 19 projects

To recognize distinctive new and retrofit applications of members’ manufactured stone products, Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association honored 19 projects in the first annual MVMA Design Awards program. The award-winning entries were supplied by four masonry veneer producers that displayed inventive and creative uses of their offerings, emphasizes MVMA General Manager Mike Fischer.

Contest entries were judged in eight categories, including (1) Remodel, Residential, Exterior; (2) Remodel, Residential, Interior; (3) Remodel, Nonresidential, Exterior; (4) New Construction, Residential, Exterior; (5) New Construction, Residential, Interior & Exterior; (6) New Construction, Nonresidential, Exterior; (7) New Construction, Nonresidential, Interior & Exterior; and, (8) Hardscape/Landscape. MVMA held the inaugural Design Awards judging and presentation ceremony during its early-June annual meeting in St. Louis.

Six honors spanning five categories placed San Marcos, Calif.-based Eldorado Stone first among award-winning producers. Veneerstone in Plano, Texas, garnered five awards in five categories for projects featuring Tejas Textured Stone. Also landing five awards was Refton, Pa.-based Quality Stone Veneer, Inc., for projects entered in four categories. Kudos to Cultured Stone producer Owens Corning, cited for two projects in separate categories targeting new, nonresidential construction.
