Two new brochures detailing features and benefits of the company’s new UltraShift Plus heavy-duty, automated transmission lineup are available as 22-page hard copies, upon request, or by download from Roadranger.com. Eaton recently announced that UltraShift Plus transmissions are optional on Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Peterbilt and Western Star chassis.

The new UltraShift Plus for Vocational Applications brochure [TRSL2506] addresses construction, concrete, heavy-haul and other vocational markets, as it provides an overview of the Vocational Construction Series (VCS), Vocational Multipurpose Series (VMS) and Vocational Extreme Performance (VXP) automated transmissions. In addition to covering drivetrain integration, gear selection logic, and low-speed maneuverability features, the brochure discusses cost and performance advantages of an automated versus a torque-converter automatic transmission.

Specifically targeting over-the-road fleets, owner operators and truck dealers, the UltraShift Plus Brochure for Linehaul Applications [TRSL2505] provides an overview of UltraShift Plus Linehaul Active Shifting (LAS), Multipurpose High Performance (MHP) and Multipurpose Extreme Performance (MXP) automated transmissions. Information is presented on drivetrain integration, gear selection logic and low-speed maneuverability. Fuel economy, safety and life cycle costs also are highlighted.

The new family of fully automated UltraShift Plus transmissions features new automated clutch technology and intelligent shift-selection software that employs grade sensing, weight computation, and driver throttle commands to make shift decisions for efficient, safe and profitable vehicle performance, the company affirms. The transmissions are automated via self-adjusting, electronic clutch actuator for fast, smooth engagements, product engineers note. Also among manufacturer-cited benefits are a Hill Start Aid feature to prevent rollbacks on grades; an oil level sight glass to easily check fluid levels; six- and eight-bolt PTO availability at no extra cost; automatic, manual and low mode selections; and, a creep feature for improved maneuverability with continuous low-speed control.
