A new NRMCA and Wildlife Habitat Council partnership encourages member participation in each organization’s environmental programs and advances voluntary corporate leadership in environmental performance, including wildlife habitat enhancement and restoration. NRMCA and the Council formalized their plan with a memorandum of understanding signed at the 2010 Concrete Sustainability Conference in Tempe, Ariz.
Wildlife Habitat Council programs encourage biodiversity on corporate lands. These programs support NRMCA’s sustainability mission, which is to transform the built environment by improving the way concrete is manufactured and used in order to achieve an optimum balance among environmental, social and economic conditions, said NRMCA President Robert Garbini.
The concrete industry has long been a leading partner in building biodiversity, wildlife habitat conservation and restoration programs into their operations, added Council President Robert Johnson.
Now in its fifth year, NRMCA’s Concrete Sustainability Conference is the ready mixed concrete industry’s singular event that highlights the latest advances, technical knowledge, continuing research and solutions for sustainable concrete manufacturing and construction. A nonprofit, non-lobbying organization, the Wildlife Habitat Council seeks to build partnerships with corporations and conservation groups to create solutions that balance the demands of economic growth with the requirements of a healthy, biodiverse and sustainable environment.
