Nrmca Offers Online Driver Training, A/E Course

Originally developed with input from ready mixed producers of all sizes throughout North America, National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s Concrete Delivery Professional (CDP) Certification Program recently has been adapted to an online format, offering an individualized, self-paced learning tool to complete the mixer driver training curriculum without direct instructor intervention. Also eliminating the need for proctors, the program further allows drivers to take the certification exam online. CDP Online learning segments run approximately 20 minutes with a stop/start action, so the program is available whenever drivers have time and Internet access.

Notes NRMCA President Robert Garbini, CDP Online allows companies to productively and efficiently use drivers’ downtime between loads and on bad-weather days. The material is quick-paced, visual and delivered in small increments with a voiceover and subtitles to assure that NRMCA supports all drivers, including those with reading and hearing disabilities. More details are available at www.nrmca.org/Education/Online_Learning/OnDemand/CDP.htm.

Separately, NRMCA announces online availability of a popular course targeting architects and engineers. Building Green with Concrete details innovative strategies, technologies and methodologies for designing sustainable concrete projects to maximize environmental performance. Attendees will learn the basics of low-impact development, specifying high-performance concrete building systems, installing pervious concrete pavement systems, and developing project specifications to optimize recycled content and maximize durability. The course includes four live Webinars (May 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 3-5 p.m. Eastern), plus online exercises and quizzes, offering participants eight Professional Development Hours, eight AIA-CES HSW Learning Units, and eight Green Building Certification Institute Continuing Education hours. More course information can be obtained by visiting www.nrmca.org/seminars.
