Visible from Ventura Boulevard is a precast barrier in Mesa Buff, Calif., that stands as a vivid example of Artisan Precast’s specialty fencing solution Û combining the appearance of natural hand-laid ledge stone and crafted wood in a single structure. The large barrier fence was constructed between Avalon Encino luxury multi-use complex and the adjacent home lots and car wash to provide privacy for homeowners, plus a sound buffer against the busy thoroughfare.

To that end, the Avalon Encino project partnered Los Angeles-based Artisan Precast with Avalon Bay Construction to erect a barrier comprising 530 feet of 6-ft. FenceStone Û an Artisan product designed to simulate natural stone Û and 335 feet of 6-ft. WoodCrete, resembling wood plank. Besides design versatility, Artisan precast components brought to the Avalon Encino project low maintenance, 5,000-psi or greater strength, and suitability for construction in areas threatened by ground movement. Moreover, installation crews on the job were undeterred by multiple challenges presented by the small dividing space between homeowners.

Artisan Precast officials note that their fencing can be customized to complement architectural elements and cross any type of terrain. Used in the field for 27 years, the steel-reinforced precast walls and fences are fabricated at NPCA-certified facilities to ensure high levels of quality and consistency. Further, they add, the producer began early in 2008 to increase the use of recycled cementitious materials in its mixes Û bringing Artisan to the forefront of the eco-friendly market.
