Argonics Consolidates

The move of Michigan-based Argonics Inc. from Marquette to a new facility in Gwinn has allowed the provider of bulk material-handling urethane solutions

The move of Michigan-based Argonics Inc. from Marquette to a new facility in Gwinn has allowed the provider of bulk material-handling urethane solutions to expand from 40,000 sq. ft. across five buildings to 72,000 sq. ft. under one roof. Greatly improving company efficiency, notes Argonics Chief Operating Officer Dave Puskala, the move is part of our lean manufacturing strategy. Now, one facility houses complete production operations as well as all aspects of manufacturing, logistics, shipping and receiving, plus research and development.

Spurred by Marquette County incentives, the relocation to a (1995-decommissioned) KI Sawyer Air Force Base site prompted Argonics to upgrade critical manufacturing equipment, including an additional PLC-driven polyurethane dispenser for off table product manufacture. Also concurrent with the move was acquisition of new equipment designed to automate operations, including two CNC [Computer Numerical Control] machining centers and two CNC lathes, to create more precise molds and expedite finishing work Û for urethane, as well as steel and other metals.
