Aci Weighs Performance Alternatives In 318, 301

American Concrete Institute Technical Committee 329-Performance Criteria for Ready Mixed Concrete will propose alternatives to prescriptive concrete mix

American Concrete Institute Technical Committee 329-Performance Criteria for Ready Mixed Concrete will propose alternatives to prescriptive concrete mix requirements in institute benchmarks such as ACI 318-Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and ACI 301-Specifications for Structural Concrete for Buildings. Committee 329 will hold its charter meeting during the ACI Spring Convention, March 21-25, at Chicago’s Sheraton Hotel. Chaired by Mark Chrzanowski, principal structural technologist with engineering giant CH2MHill, the committee initially starts its work with Performance-based Requirements for Concrete, a document being finalized by ACI Innovative Task Group 8. The NRMCA (Prescriptive-to-Performance) P2P Initiative pegged the document preparation and committee launch as the next step toward industry standards on performance-based requirements for concrete. NRMCA Senior Vice President Colin Lobo, [email protected], is representing the association on ACI Committee 329.
