Among 100 companies recognized in small, medium- and large-business categories in Florida Trend’s August issue and on FloridaTrend.com, Finfrock ranked 36 out of 50 in the medium size classification. Only companies or government agencies operating in Florida for at least a year and employing a minimum of 15 workers were eligible for the Best Companies To Work For in Florida program, created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group.

All candidates submitted to a two-part survey process, entailing (1) evaluation of workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics; and, (2) an employee survey to measure satisfaction levels. Combined scores determined the top companies and final ranking. The complete list is posted at www.FloridaTrend.com/BestCompanies.

James Hill of MonierLifetile is a newly accredited LEED Professional (LEED AP). As LEED APs have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System, Hill will advise the company’s sales and marketing team on communicating how concrete tiles fit into LEED building standards.

Since RCC precast building components and systems are designed and engineered for sustainability, from both energy and environmental standpoints, the company contends, the alliance is fitting. North Star Stone and Masonry has appointed Gene Schmidt manager of the company’s Rochester, Minn., headquarters location. A key player in the area’s masonry industry, he served in commercial block and brick sales with both ROMAC and Rochester Brick, before accepting his most recent prior position with an out-of-state block producer.
