Mindful of current opportunities, and future market improvements, Len Swederski has been at the forefront of concrete parking lot promotion. In addition to his Hard Facts seminar noted here, and more than a decade teaching the ACI Concrete Finisher Certification course, he has assisted dozens of state, regional and national producer and contractor groups in concrete parking lot or pavement seminars. He will also lead Selling Concrete Parking Lots, a 2010 World of Concrete session.

Joining Swederski for the July gathering in northern Illinois, Ozinga Vice President Brian Lutey assured Hard Facts participants that success in pervious concrete pavements hinges on a playbook different from conventional concrete slabs.

Using as one example pervious concrete pavement’s recommended seven-day turnaround, Lafarge’s Julie Buffenbarger noted that certain projects’ sustainability goals will see a change of the fast or overnight construction mindset.

Rounding the latest ÎHard FactsÌ installment, American Concrete Pavement Association/Illinois Chapter, Inc. Executive Director Randell Riley, P.E., tracked the evolution of conventional and ultra-thin whitetopping from a novelty phase to statewide practice.
