Updated in 2008 and now in its 14th edition, Design and Control of Concrete Mixtures has been extensively revised and expanded, Portland Cement Association affirms. The manual addresses fundamentals pertaining to freshly mixed and hardened concrete, including materials, air-entrainment, mix designs, curing procedures, hot- and cold-weather concreting, plus commonly used quality control tests.

New chapters include information on supplementary cementitious materials, fibers, and high-performance concrete. Revised technical data is based on the latest, extensively referenced ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI specifications and standards. The updated technology reference benefits a wide range of industry professionals, PCA notes, from ready-mixed producers and concrete contractors to inspection and testing personnel, as well as consultants and related suppliers.

In addition to the print publication, the manual is available in searchable CD form. The electronic version includes a comprehensive glossary, links to cement and concrete resources on the Internet, and a metric conversion program. Users can access 170 research reports and relevant web sites. PowerPoint slides also are available as a training element for each of the book’s 18 chapters.
