CRH Plc confirmed early last month the appointment of Myles Lee as group chief executive, succeeding Liam O’Mahony (note companion item, left), who remains on the board as a nonexecutive director. A 27-year CRH veteran with degrees in accounting and civil engineering, Lee takes the helm after serving since 1988 in the company’s finance department, most recently as chief financial officer.

The executive transition, outlined by CRH in June 2008, has seen the naming of Glenn Culpepper as Lee’s successor. Over his 20-year company tenure, Culpepper has held a variety of positions within the U.S. Oldcastle operations, serving as CRH Americas Materials Division chief financial officer since 1995. He has relocated from the Materials Division office in Washington, D.C., to the Belgard Castle, CRH’s iconic headquarters on the edge of Dublin.

Also in the transition, Albert Manifold has been appointed chief operating officer, a newly created post reflecting what company officials note is the evolution of an organizational structure encompassing North American, European and Asian markets. Manifold and Culpepper have joined the CRH board as executive directors, alongside Lee and Oldcastle Inc. CEO Mark Towe.
