Reed Construction Data recently announced the SmartBIM Partnership Program offering SmartBIM Object Creation Services to building product manufacturers that seek high-quality, brand-specific BIM objects modeled exclusively after their products. Designed to simulate actual items, SmartBIM Objects contain crucial product data and specifications that can be used within an Autodesk Revit model. Besides creating objects, Reed Construction Data will provide the BIM content in a searchable environment on the web, as well as within the SmartBIM Library.
Inaugural SmartBIM Partners include five manufacturers: Kolbe Û windows and doors; Karona, Inc. Û custom wood doors; Da-Lite Û projection screens; Hager Û commercial hardware products; and, Draper Û window shades, projection screens, video projector lifts, and gymnasium equipment.
Through the SmartBIM Partnership Program, building product manufacturers (BPM) have the opportunity to showcase their products within a structure during the design phase, notes Richard Remington, vice president, product development, Reed Construction Data. The SmartBIM Object Creation program provides BPMs with highly parametric BIM objects that accurately represent the real world characteristics and specifications of their product lines.
