Concrete Products Group (CPG) companies have entered a strategic alliance securing exclusive manufacturing and distribution rights for concrete masonry units containing Sealtech-branded recycled aggregate, which product developers note is the only patented post-consumer material of its kind for CMU applications. The alliance will allow group producers to help national accounts or stand-alone franchise operators incorporate green building strategies.

Notes CPG President Mark Wilhelms, The alliance is crucial to our network of regional manufacturers, and key to our long-term strategy of promoting ÎgreenÌ design and construction alternatives. The Sealtech offering, he adds, suits larger national retailers like Target, Wal-Mart and Lowes; grocery and drug store chains, such as Walgreens; plus, full-service restaurants and fast-food chains like McDonald’s.

Formulated with 10 percent recycled thermoset high-strength plastic powder, Sealtech imparts a nonporous surface with superior water and fire resistance compared to conventional concrete block, product developers contend. It yields brick and block that are stronger than conventional alternatives, yet 10 percent lighter, and available in split-face or smooth texture and a variety of shapes and sizes, including 4-, 8- and 12-in. standard.

Sealtech CMU joins other proprietary products manufactured and distributed by St. Louis-based CPG, including Spec-Brik concrete veneer. Group producers, by region or market, are Kirchner Block & Brick/Midwest Products, Midwest; Oberfield’s Inc., Ohio Valley; Block USA, South Central; Basalite Products Inc. and Orco Block Co., West Coast; Amcon, Minnesota, upper Midwest; A. Jandris & Sons, East Coast; and Allied Redi-Mix Concrete, Southeast.
