A&A Concrete Supply’s most recent delivery for a two-year Freeport Water Authority contract entailed 4,000 yd. of ready mixed for an intake structure. The mid-January tremie placement near Sacramento, Calif., spanned about 26 hours and paced 220-240 yd./hour. Although the 7.3-bag mix was dosed with BASF’s 1025 Polyheed MRWR, the cofferdam calm of the Sacramento River placing point did not necessitate an anti-washout agent.

As supplier to lead contractor Balfour Beatty, A&A Concrete dedicated 38 mixers to the two-shift pour, dispatching them from a main Sacramento yard (15 miles from site) and Stockton satellite (35 miles). Sacramento is the northern hub for the 27-plant producer, which is based in Newport Beach, Calif., and most active in the southern part of the state.
