Applications are now available for construction education scholarships funded by the ConstructMyFuture.com website, an industry initiative promoting construction as a rewarding career choice. Open to students and construction industry professionals, the ConstructMyFuture.com annual scholarship program provides funds for higher-education tuition or the purchase of tools to improve worker productivity. The deadline for applications is Feb. 4. Details and entry forms are available online at www.constructmyfuture.com.

ConstructMyFuture.com is a joint workforce-development initiative of the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, and the Associated General Contractors of America. Addressing a shortage of skilled trades people and technicians facing the construction industry, the website is a major component of association efforts to attract students and workers, as well as upgrade the overall image of the construction industry.

ConstructMyFuture.com provides students, teachers, counselors and parents with an online resource to explore benefits and opportunities for careers in the construction industry. Focusing on three major segments Û manufacturing, distributing and constructing Û it provides career descriptions as well as education and training options, plus information on additional industry scholarships, access to industry job boards, and a list of trade unions and professional associations potentially offering apprenticeship and other career-building programs.

A special feature of ConstructMyFuture.com is a searchable database of more than 1,600 North American construction education programs, including links to the school websites. It also offers a database of companies willing to provide field trips, speaking engagements, and student internships. Additionally, a Cool Stuff section displays famous construction projects worldwide, describes related machinery, traces construction history, and offers a variety of other industry facts and figures.
