Baltimore-based Structural Preservation Systems has announced the opening of a new location serving Long Island, New York. Given the tremendous need for strengthening and repair services in the Long Island area and parts of New York City, we believe the closer proximity will enhance project coordination, notes New York Branch Manager Bob Pirro. The Long Island office will provide several repair and strengthening services, including parking garage repair and waterproofing, plaza deck repair and waterproofing, concrete repair, structural strengthening, fa¡ade restoration, and geotechnical services. The office will be headed by Division Manager Steve Camisa, who most recently managed multiple repair and strengthening projects for SPS’ New York office, and Business Development Leader Lou Mamone, who brings 25-plus years of construction industry experience, specializing in masonry restoration and waterproofing.

Portland Cement Association named William (Tim) McConnell its soil cement/RCC pavements engineer, responsible for promotion in the U.S. and Canada. Working on stabilization and rehabilitation of pavements for 12-plus years, McConnell most recently was a cement-stabilization specialist for the Southeast Cement Association. Prior to that position, he served as a geopavement engineer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he developed specifications for the use of full-depth reclamation.
