Spancrete Group Inc. has announced three promotions related to quality control and production operations. As manager of process improvement, Jim Hagen will apply expertise gained from serving on the company’s first Lean (Manufacturing) team to achieve continuous process improvement for all four precast production facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois. Hagen has been with Spancrete for eight years and was most recently architectural and structural wetcast production manager in Waukesha, Wis. Replacing him is Tim Parnau, who has been with the company eight years, most recently serving as Waukesha quality manager. His replacement is Mark Van Massenhove, who has been with Spancrete two years as quality control technician, and is an Alpena (Mich.) Community Concrete Technology program graduate.

Aggregate Industries Mid-Atlantic Region recently added the assets of Nazcon Inc., Beltsville, Md. The deal included a 22-mixer fleet and newer (2004) transit mixed plant strategic to commercial and residential building customers in northern Maryland and Washington, D.C., markets. This acquisition will add a significant volume of ready mixed concrete per year to the Mid Atlantic Region’s existing ready mixed plant network, Aggregate Industries reports, and will boost internal aggregate sales. The business will continue to operate under Nazcon for the near term.
