Vulcan Materials Co. christened the M/V H.A. Sklenar last month at the company’s Port of Mobile (Ala.) Blakely Island sales yard. Named for a past company chairman, the Sklenar joins two other Panamax self-unloading vessels, the M/V W.H. Blount and M/V Bernardo Quintana, that transport limestone from the Vulcan Sac Tun quarry on Mexico’s Yucat∑n Peninsula to markets along the U.S. Gulf Coast, the east coast of Florida, and the Caribbean.

Vulcan acquired and converted the Sklenar to transport an additional volume of aggregates stemming from a major expansion and upgrade that saw Sac Tun annual output capability raised from 9 million tons to 12 million tons. The Sklenar increases annual shipping capacity by 3 million-plus tons.
