Principal contacts of local sponsoring groups and other stakeholders have approved an intermediate level for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Pervious Concrete Contractor Certification Program. Prerequisites for the new level, Pervious Concrete Installer, include ACI Flatwork Finisher Technician status; completion of the NRMCA written exam at a passing score of 75 percent; and, demonstration of proper placement practices and documentation of three projects totaling at least 10,000 sq.ft.

The Installer rollout is scheduled to begin by early September. Persons having current Technician-level certification will be eligible to upgrade to the Installer level. Establishing the intermediate certification level helps identify those who can construct pervious concrete pavements but have not achieved the necessary work experience needed to achieve Craftsman certification. (The Technician level only requires passing the written exam.)

The NRMCA Pervious Contractor Certification program currently has 36 local sponsoring groups that administer curriculum. More details on the program are available at http://nrmca.org/certifications/pervious/ or by contacting NRMCA’s Shawnita Dickens, 888-846-7622, ext. 1154; [email protected]
