Dr. Heather Brown, recently appointed director of the charter Concrete Industry Management Program at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro) conferred with two of her strongest backers, CIM National Steering Committee Chairman Eugene Martineau (left) and Vice Chairman Mike Shydlowski, during last month’s National Ready Mixed Concrete Association annual convention in La Jolla, Calif. Martineau and Shydlowski, who championed the 11-year-old CIM program as a cornerstone of the RMC 2000 movement, are retiring later this spring as president and CEO of Houston-based U.S. Concrete Inc. and Cleveland-based BASF Admixtures Inc., respectively. Both will continue in consulting roles that include representing their companies in the Steering Committee and other NRMCA-aligned activities. A Middle Tennessee associate professor, Dr. Brown replaces inaugural CIM Director Austin Cheney, who was named dean of Engineering and Business Management at New York’s Alfred State University.
