While mainline producers and practitioners tout concrete’s versatility and character, T.J. Neil of Homosassa, Fla., demonstrates these properties in American Eagle, flying porpoise, grizzly bear, and galloping steed sculptures, to name a few of his works. Sculpting for 30-plus years, Neil notes that his process involves building on, rather than taking away, as in traditional practice. His technique entails construction of an armature using rebar and wire to support the concrete figure shaped freehand from original designs, models or drawings. Neil emphasizes that no molds or forms are used in his work.

Suitable for private property, business or pool and fountain areas, the artist affirms, each figure is a unique, signed and dated sculpture. Since all pieces are bottom-weighted for stable transport, he adds, they can be shipped worldwide. Û 352/621-0853, www.tjneil.com
