Following acquisition of two fixed plants, additional portable equipment and a 50-mixer fleet from Casino Ready Mix Inc., Silver State Materials LLC has upped its stake as a key Las Vegas player along side market leaders Rinker Materials and Nevada Ready Mix. The early-February transaction positions Silver State with eight permanent and two portable ready mixed plants and 220 mixers. It continues a ramp up by a Boston-based private equity firm, Audax Group, which acquired four-plant, 100-mixer Silver State in March 2006, and shortly after absorbed the market’s up-and-coming independent, All Star Transit Mix. The Casino Ready Mix assets were acquired from Donna Bale, widow of company founder Gary Bale, who died in November 2006. He and company president Kyle Goerlitz had built Casino Ready Mix over an 11-year period.
