Reward Wall Systems of Omaha, Neb., reports that it is the first ICF manufacturer to earn noncombustible construction building code approval. Tests by Intertek Laboratory indicate that when exposed to fire, the manufacturer’s ICF polystyrene walls release less than half the toxins of burning wood (pine), while exhibiting a toxicity level of 24, flame speed less than 25, and smoke development under 450. The three-hour fire rating for the Reward 11-in. and four-hour ratings for the 13- and 15-in. forms give occupants time to escape burning structures.
