Pca Elects Sunderland Chairman; Gleason, Fiorato Plan Retirement

During its fall meeting in Sea Island, Ga., the Portland Cement Association board of directors elected Charlie Sunderland chairman for a two-year term, succeeding California Portland Cement’s James Repman. Sunderland is chairman of Ash Grove Cement, Overland Park, Kan., where he has also served as vice president of administration and corporate development, secretary and risk manager.

Enrique Escalante of GCC of America was elected PCA vice chair. The director of GCC’s U.S. division, he joined PCA’s board in 2001 and chairs the Research and Technical Council and Product Standards and Technology Committee.

Also at the PCA fall board meeting, longtime staff president John (Jay) Gleason announced that he will retire effective July 1, 2007. The board has retained the executive recruitment firm Korn/Ferry to find candidates for the position. Gleason has headed PCA since 1986. Separately, CTLGroup announced that Tony Fiorato will retire as president/CEO effective June 1, 2007. He will serve as CTLGroup chairman and remain active in its consulting operations.
