The RMC Research Foundation board has approved funding for a study of pervious concrete mix designs for wearing course placement, conducted by Iowa State University’s CP Tech Center with companion funding from the Federal Highway Administration, the State DOT Pooled Resource Fund, and industry groups. The foundation will also fund a second study involving side-by-side comparison of pervious concrete and porous asphalt to be handled by Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. Among sponsors of the research is the Environmental Protection Agency.

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association-aligned RMC Research Foundation is also supporting development of a Frontline Supervisor Workshop Course through the new Concrete Industry Management program at California State University – Chico, with a pilot scheduled for spring 2007.
