After two years of a phased quality program implementation, BASF Admixtures Inc. has achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification in each of its 15 manufacturing facilities and three customer resource centers in the U.S and Canada, plus Cleveland headquarters and laboratories. Measuring quality management, continuous performance improvement, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance through internal and external audits, the certification reinforces what the company cites as a long-standing commitment to the highest standards, best practices and first-class customer service. We are firmly committed to quality in every aspect of our business, says CEO Michael Shydlowski. ISO certification is an important affirmation by an independent body that we value and strive for operational excellence and superior customer satisfaction.

Leading up to the certification, adds BASF Admixtures Director of Business Performance Steve Amey, the company had ISO-comparable quality assurance/management in manufacturing, where ISO 9001-2000 methods are mostly commonly applied. Enterprise-wide certification has meant greater sales organization involvement in the quality process, he notes, thus improving customer feedback and product performance data gathering.

Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization maintains the 9000 body of standards. ISO certification is considered price of entry in BASF Admixtures’ European and Asian markets. In North America, the company’s certification rationale is consistent with other concrete industry producers and manufacturers who have completed audits for ISO 9001-2000 or earlier standards, including Thomas Concrete of Atlanta; (pre-Florida Rock) Newington Concrete/NewRock Materials in Virginia; (pre-Ready Mixed of North Carolina) Unicon LLC; Hartford Concrete Products, Indiana; and, Oshkosh Truck Corp., Wisconsin, and Minnesota subsidiary McNeilus Cos.
