Projects

Walkways, patios, driveways, plazas, custom parking lots, floors and novelty slabs, paths and heavy duty, non-automobile pavements built with cast-in-place or precast paving stones or specialty pavers. Any new concrete or hardscaping job other than municipal street or mainline highway pavement completed between January 2005 and October 2006.

Participants

Concrete producers and contractors, home builders, architects and engineers, promotion groups, product vendors, owners and developers.

Photo/entry requirements

Two completed project photos, and, if available, two construction phase photos; preferably 5 _ 7 photos, but no smaller than 3_ _ 5. Submission of slides or high-resolution digital images is also welcomed. (If CD is submitted, please include color printouts of each image.) Completed entry form.

Pavement selection & judging criteria

Entries received by the deadline, November 22, 2006, will be judged by a panel of design professionals this fall. Winning and honorable mention projects will be featured in Concrete Products and cosponsors’ periodicals.

Entries will be judged on project’s design, economy and craftsmanship, weighing these related criteria: color, shape, texture, pattern, abrasion resistance, maintenance and life-cycle costs; structural capacity; compatibility with related construction materials and systems; construction expediency; vehicular/pedestrian safety; ADA compliance/requirements; ecological and energy conservation factors; historic preservation or replication; local economic or cultural development.
