Lanxess Corp. staged a grand opening earlier this year of an inorganic pigment-blending operation at Starpointe in Washington County, Pa. Replacing an operation on leased land in Imperial, Pa., the new plant is the North American base for production of Bayferrox and the company’s other concrete-grade coloring pigments. While smaller than the previous location, Starpointe is specifically configured to fulfill blending needs, contributing to what Lanxess officials note are operational savings through optimum raw material flow and more efficient production. Additionally, the company is able to retain its current workforce of 20 people due to the relative proximity of the new site to both the old site and Lanxess headquarters in Findlay Township.
