Integrated concrete, aggregate and cement supplier Silvi Group, Fairless Hills, Pa., has added 20 trucks and related support equipment to its 130-front-discharge-mixer fleet in a deal involving assets tied to Independence Construction Materials’ Devault, Pa., ready mixed plant. The transaction will see Silvi bring added equipment and customer business into its nearby Downington and Limerick, Pa., plants, both about 10 miles on either side of Devault. The latter town marked the only one of eight Independence materials properties with concrete production. Based in Malvern, Pa., Independence is one of five companies under Worcester, Pa., contractor American Infrastructure Group. Independence maintains aggregate and asphalt production at Devault and other Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware sites.

Silvi Group employs about 300 out of six concrete plants and additional aggregate operations in southeastern Pennsylvania and central and southern New Jersey. The company also reports that a proposed quarry in nearby New Hanover Township (northwest of Philadelphia) has received a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection mining permit.
