Oldcastle Materials has entered the Delaware ready mixed market through Pioneer Concrete, a four-plant operation it acquired in an early February transaction. Pioneer principals Michael and Bill Petrillo will remain with the company, transitioning to the titles of general manager and operations manager, respectively. Wilmington-based Pioneer has 60-plus front discharge mixer trucks and six concrete pumps, and logged more than 380,000 yd. of ready mixed shipments in 2005. The Pioneer brand will be retained, while the business is brought under Oldcastle Materials/Mid-Atlantic as a bolt-on to a long-time company holding, Pennsy Supply, Harrisburg, Pa. Pioneer will continue sourcing aggregate from Oldcastle’s Tilcon Delaware sites.
