An Australian inventor has created a prototype of a flocculant system designed to reduce runoff at job sites, eliminating the need to spread floc blocks to clean up slurry. Besides saving cleanup time and effort, the Metro Slurry Control System (MSCS) affords contractors the option to deposit sediment into landfills or recycle it for use as construction fill. It also provides an easy and effective means, the product developer notes, for controlling sediment in wastewater.

Motivation to create the MSCS came from the inventor’s background as a contractor. I know that environmental issues are always a concern, and fines from government agencies are expensive, plus they give a bad image to the workplace. I needed a simple solution to this problem, he contends.
