‘Leansafe’ ladder

New step ladder is equipped with features allowing it to be safely leaned against walls, corners, studs or a pole; Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations otherwise discourage placement against vertical surfaces because such models are designed to be exclusively self-supporting.

The Leansafe Ladder can be leaned against a variety of surfaces while retaining its functionality as a traditional step model. “We’ve seen too many times that users will overreach and put themselves in dangerous situations to get the job done,” says WernerCo Vice President of Marketing Chris Filardi. “Leansafe is a practical and innovative way to curb common bad behaviors like leaning traditional step ladders against walls.”

Among Leansafe safety features are a) ladder top with non-marring rubber bumper pads, magnet for holding metal tools and bits, power drill and hand-tool holes, plus cut-away pattern that leans securely on corners, poles, studs and walls; b) dropped rail pivot point with which support rails are attached and hinged below the ladder’s top platform, placing the user closer to vertical work surface; c) secure rail latch, locking rear ladder rails in place, while allowing for single-hand opening from the front or side of the ladder; and, d) non-marring foot pads that maximize contact with the ground in both standard and leaning modes.

Standard on the new model are a Type 1A Duty Rating, 300-lb. load capacity, and seven-layer fiberglass construction, making it safe to use when working around electricity. The OSHA- and ANSI-compliant Leansafe is available in 4- to 12-ft. heights.www.wernerco.com/leansafe
