D. Michael Wilson, president and chief executive officer of specialty chemicals and high performance carbon materials specialist Ingevity Corp., has been elected to the Vulcan Materials Co. board, and will serve on the Audit and Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs Committees.

Thomas Pike has been appointed to the Martin Marietta Materials Inc. board as an independent member, and will join the Management Development and Compensation committees. Pike served as chief executive officer of Quintiles Transnational Holdings Inc. until its 2016 merger with IMS Health, now known as IQVIA. Prior to Quintiles, he spent 22 years at Accenture, a leading global professional services company, and was also a consultant at McKinsey & Co.

Reading Rock, Inc. and Columbus Coal & Lime Co. have combined resources to form central Ohio’s most comprehensive manufacturer/distributor of ‘hard’ building materials and services. With a combined 200 years of family owned and operated business experience, Reading Rock+CCL will offer a one-stop shop for commercial, residential and restoration projects. Products will include clay brick, rebar and concrete restoration materials; an expanded offering of Reading Rock+CCL-produced architectural cast stone, concrete masonry units, hardscape pavers and retaining walls; plus, ancillary products and services. Columbus Coal & Lime’s flagship and Granville locations join Reading Rock operations in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky to provide what company officials note are “unparalleled products and services to our expanding contractor base.”

Easi-Set Worldwide, a subsidiary of Virginia’s Smith-Midland Corp., has entered a project-specific J-J Hooks production licensing arrangement with Primoris Heavy Civil, which will cast the highway barriers to augment safety for construction of a freeway in Liberty County, Texas, northeast of Houston. Primoris is based in Baton Rouge, La., and provides heavy civil, highway, port, airfield, rail and marine (intermodal transportation) construction services to both private industrial clients and governmental entities. The Liberty County contract aims to convert non-freeway roads and structures to 4.5 miles of freeway consisting of six main lanes with frontage roads. Construction will carry into 2022 and see Primoris fabricate 31,000 linear feet of 30-ft., 42-in. slope J-J Hooks barrier. Valued at $102 million, the main contract will include multiple bridges and structures plus mechanically stabilized earth walls.

Texas Division as sales engineer, tasked with establishing and growing customer accounts throughout northern Texas, and primarily focusing on structural precast concrete. He arrives from Texas-based pipe and precast producer Forterra Inc., and has 35-plus years in concrete production and construction.
