The Ready Mixed Concrete Industry LEED Reference Guide – Third Edition covers LEED 2009 for New Construction and Major Renovations, plus guidance on how concrete may contribute to rating points for candidate construction projects in the United States Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification system.

The RMC Research & Education Foundation published its first LEED Guide in 2005. Notes Foundation Chairman Karl Watson, Jr. (Cemex USA), “Participation in the LEED certification program has exploded over the last few years, and the LEED Guide has no doubt helped to increase awareness of the LEED program, particularly in the concrete industry.”

“Demand for the LEED Guide has been incredibly strong because it has helped producers to better understand how to enhance the sustainability of their product, and helped to educate specifiers and architects on how concrete can help projects gain additional LEED points,” adds Executive Director Julie Garbini. “Our work with the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association in updating the LEED Guide is a stellar example of how such partnerships can benefit the construction industry and the communities we serve.”

The LEED Guide is available for download from the Foundation’s site, or as part of the Foundation’s free Research Supporting Sustainable Development CD. Hardcopies of the LEED Guide are available for purchase for a nominal fee from NRMCA.
