Announcing the third deal of its kind in two weeks, Contech has closed on the corrugated metal pipe assets tied to Hanson Pipe & Precast’s Como, Miss., operation. The transaction signals the seller’s exit from corrugated steel drainage product manufacturing, although Hanson Pipe will serve as a Contech distributor.
The Hanson deal follows Contech’s early-July acquisition of assets from Plateau Pipe Co. in Cookeville, Tenn., and Thompson Culvert Co. in Hazelwood, Mo. In addition to its home state, Plateau Pipe serves Alabama, the Carolinas, Georgia and Kentucky. Maintaining Cookeville as a distribution center, notes Contech CEO Ron Keating, “The acquisition [enables us] to expand Southeastern distribution points and better serve the region with the most comprehensive selection of drainage and site solution products available." Thompson Culvert brings Hazelwood, Sikeston and Springfield, Mo., corrugated metal pipe operations, he adds, plus related construction product distribution assets accessing South Central and Great Lakes markets.
Corrugated
metal pipe production and distribution anchor Contech’s Drainage Solutions
business; sister Bridge Solutions and Earth Stabilization Solutions businesses
encompass, respectively, licensed precast brands Con-Span and Bebo Arch, and
Keystone Retaining Walls.
