Boral Material Technologies' SL is a viscosity-modifying admixture that allows for the production of self-compacting concrete (SCC), which is highly flowable and requires no vibration for compaction while filling formwork completely. Self-leveling concrete is a special type of SCC that can, among other things, find its own level. With Boral SL, a very high level of concrete flowability can reportedly be achieved while maintaining a high level of segregation resistance. The admixture also helps achieve a smooth surface without vibration and ensures compaction in areas that are difficult to vibrate. Product developers note that the agent works particularly well in cementitious systems containing high pozzolan volumes. Use of the admixture can lead to reduced finishing-labor requirements and results in improved finishability and uniform compaction.
