Catexol Hydrosense, a polycarboxylate-based water reducer, provides what Axim Italcementi Group contends is excellent flowability during placement without affecting initial setting time. Geared for normal to mid-range water reduction, depending on dosage rate, the ASTM C 494 Type A admixture is also designed to reduce the set time of slag- and/or fly ash-bearing mixes specified for horizontal and vertical applications.

Catexol Hydrosense provides a linear dose response to offer normal- and mid-range water reduction and maintains workability levels for longer periods than conventional water reducers. Axim engineers also note the product's potential for improved flatwork finishing characteristics and pumping efficiencies, the latter indicated in pump pressure reduction up to 50 percent compared to mixes with earlier generation WRA.
